We love people. We love stories. We love entertaining.
SKR Productions is a women-run company, launched in 2014 by award winning and proven showrunner Sara Rea. The company’s mission is creating and producing groundbreaking programming with impeccable storytelling. Embracing diversity, inclusivity, and positive change is at the heart of all that we do, both on and off the screen. With over 20 years of experience, more than ten Emmy nominations, multiple PGA nominations, and a GLAAD award, we pride ourselves on premium programming.
Amazon Prime’s Making the Cut, a global fashion competition show, is the most recent hit coming out of SKR Productions. Project Runway Threads, Project Runway Junior, The Naked Truth, and the digital series Pranks Southern Women Play were also produced by SKR.
We recently launched our scripted department, gaining the exclusive rights to the best-selling novel Whistling Past the Graveyard.
CEO & Executive Producer
Sara Rea is a multiple award-winning producer who has been creating groundbreaking television and documentaries for over 20 years. With a passion for writing, television and film that started at a very young age, Rea always dreamed of creating shows that have something to say, shows that inspire, shows that matter. Now, she is proud to say that she has done that and will continue to do-so because there is so much left to say.
She produced ten seasons of the hit series Project Runway for Lifetime Television. Under her leadership the show was nominated for ten Emmys, won the Emmy for best host, received multiple PGA nominations and won a GLAAD Award. But, more importantly, the show also evolved into a series that promoted a message of acceptance and inclusivity. From including models of all sizes to having contestants and winners from all over the world, the show embraced and promoted individuality and diversity. Rea also created Project Runway Under the Gunn, Project Runway Junior, and Project Runway Threads.
In addition, Rea’s producing experience includes shows such as NBC’s Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search, Fox’s The Simple Life, Spike TV’s Murder, MTV’S The Real World vs. Road Rules Challenge and Lifetime’s America’s Psychic Challenge. Prior to reality television, she produced more than 10 nationally syndicated documentaries focusing on children’s issues, such as Autism, eating disorders, addiction, cutting and many more tough topics. She received four regional Emmy Nominations for her documentary work.
She would be remiss not to include that she is inspired by Dolly Parton, Richard Branson and Jim Henson; all people who vowed to do it their way, but to always do it with a smile and a kind heart.
VP of Development
Sue Kinkead is a multiple Emmy-nominated television producer with 20 years of experience and a relentless adventurous spirit. Born & raised in a small town in upstate New York and then attending college in another small town in western New York, she always marched to the beat of her own drum. So, after graduating from college she packed up her creative mind and that fearless, adventurous spirit and headed to Hollywood.
She got her start at MTV & VH1 and has produced shows for NBC, Bravo, USA, Lifetime, GSN, Travel Channel and Amazon Prime Video. Kinkead hit her stride (and her fashionista happy place) while producing 12 seasons of Project Runway and several successful spin-offs. She then co-created, developed and produced Making the Cut, Amazon Prime Video’s biggest unscripted hit.
In addition to creating and producing groundbreaking content, she is exceptional when it comes to combining compelling creative with business partnerships, having worked with companies such as Marvel, Sony Pictures, Lexus and Samsung.
From travel and dating to court & talk to comedic docu-series to competition in various spaces, Sue has done it all when it comes to unscripted television. But, she says, there are always more creative ideas and adventures ahead.
